Misleading statment

I removed from the lede the statement "The United States is currently one of only seven countries in the world that allows abortion after 20 weeks (the others are Canada, China, Netherlands, North Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam)".

Firstly, the source was not reliable. Secondly, what it meant to say (according to the source) was that abortion after 20 weeks on demand (ie. without restriction as to reason) is permmited only in 7 countries. Abortion for various reasons (ie for health reasons, when the pregnancy is the result of rape, when the fetus is malformed etc) is legal after 20 weeks in many countries. Also the list of countries which allow abortion on demand after 20 weeks includes some parts of Australia (where the law varies by state - Abortion in Australia), which were not mentioned.2A02:2F01:504F:FFFF:0:0:6465:491D (talk) 03:38, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

To give you an example, abortion in the UK is not permitted at all on demand, but is permitted on liberal grounds until 24 weeks, and on restricted grounds after 24 weeks. (Abortion Act 1967). So if you want a discussion on gestational limits in various jurisdictions, you have to be very careful, as abortion is often not a question of "legal vs illegal". Abortion at a specific gestational age may be, for instance, legal on socioeconomic grounds or on broad health reasons (including risk to mental/psychological health, interpreted in a very liberal way).2A02:2F01:504F:FFFF:0:0:6465:491D (talk) 04:11, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, in most countries of Europe, abortion after the first trimester until 22-28 weeks (depending on countries) is permitted on a variety of grounds. I don't think that a discussion on comparative law should be in the lede, but if a mention is made it must be done in a neutral and non-misleading way.2A02:2F01:504F:FFFF:0:0:6465:491D (talk) 04:11, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Similar state laws

I can barely see the difference between the #6F3198 (dark purple) "Banned based on fetal pain" and #2F3699 (reddish mid-blue) "Ban enacted not based on basis of fetal pain". It would be adventagious to fix this. I tried to change the #6F3198 to #F36533 (orange'ish) [chosen at https://www.color-hex.com]; but I have no idea how to edit the U.S. Map .SVG file to match. I wish someone that can edit .SVG files would fix this needless use of two very close colors when only 4 colors are needed and there is a vast array of colors that would be easily seen as different from the others. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr unix (talk • contribs) 00:46, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Scientific Opinions
